It is required by registration authorities across all 27 EU member states when registering a vehicle for the first time or re-registering an imported vehicle.

You need an Alfa Romeo COC when importing your vehicle from another EU country and registering it locally, when your original COC has been lost or damaged, or when national authorities request proof of EU type-approval compliance. Without this document, vehicle registration is not possible in most EU countries.
